The #GrowcityKla project is setting up school gardens in the ghetto communities of Kampala

School gardens are a healthy realism that puts more vigor and intensity into school work. With our continued effort to get children out of doors and away from books, we are widening our coverage in setting up school gardens in more schools in the ghetto communities of Kampala under #GrowcityKla project.

School gardens can teach children the importance of caring for the environment and how nature works to feed us. Using our urban farmers guide manual, we let students take part in planning the garden and identifying what must be done to establish and maintain it.

Upon a successful training on how to take care of the vegetable garden, we handed over 3 school gardens to the school management and school urban farmers club. With a plan to reach 12 schools in a period of one year, we are in the initial stages of seeing more green cover in schools in form of vegetable gardens and we are rolling.
